Stem Cell Arthritis Treatment

Stem Cell Therapy - The new alternative to arthritis treatment

Osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease (DJD) is a painful condition that occurs in all joints of the body. Signs of arthritis include being slow to get up in the morning, not wanting to walk up or down stairs, not wanting to jump in or out of the car.

Traditionally this condition has been treated with anti-inflammatories, pentosan injections, glucosamine/chrondrotin and omega 3 fatty acids.

Now a simple procedure is available to harvest stem cells and other regenerative cells from the fat of the abdomen and then inject them into arthritic joints.

What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are cells that can change into other cells. A mixture of cells, including stem cells and other regenerative cells, are collected from fat and are injected into joints. Stem cells are your bodies natural reserve cells to help replace damaged tissue. Studies in rats, goats and rabbits have shown these stem cells repair damaged cartilage in joints. Stems also produce ant-inflammatories that reduce inflammation in the joints.

How does my dog get stem cell treatment?

First step in the treatment with stem cells is to confirm your dog has DJD. This involves a FREE arthritis assessment at one of our VetMed clinics. At the end of the assessment we can then advise on the next steps which may include radiographs and blood tests to confirm the health of your dog and which joints have osteoarthritis.
